We all know the benefits of effective performance management—employees have the opportunity to improve, and employers are able to maintain core performance standards. However, when employees disclose a disability or other medical issue as the cause for their performance issues, employers are faced with several critical questions: What accommodations are required? Can performance expectations still be maintained? What information can employers obtain to determine how to address limitations? In the context of specific workplace scenarios, this program will review effective steps to balance providing reasonable accommodations while meeting the employer’s business and operational needs.
Presenter: Jonathan Segal
It is important that leaders treat their reports (and each other) with respect and civility, avoiding harassing, retaliatory, or abusive conduct. Yet, in an effort to stay “safe,” some leaders avoid developing any personal connection with their reports. Ironically, this arms-length approach can undermine collaboration, collegiality, mentorship, and even increase legal risk. Through specific workplace scenarios, this program will explore how HR can help leaders foster personal connections in workplace relationships—without taking on unreasonable legal risk. After all, we want civility, not sterility.
Presenter: Caroline Austin & Shannon Sutherland

Arbitration and dispute resolution clauses
Implementation strategies for employment agreements

Pay transparency laws are rapidly expanding across the country, with ripple effects that impact employers well beyond the states that have enacted them—particularly for multi-state companies and those with remote or hybrid workforces. These laws generally require employers to disclose pay ranges for open positions as part of job postings or during the hiring process. This program will provide an overview of current pay transparency laws, explore their impact on employers, and offer practical strategies to ensure compliance while still hiring the right candidates.
