Course Description

Due to high demand, we are pleased to launch a repeat of this program from September, 2024.

Unless you live under a rock, then you know this election is highly polarized.  Sadly, the political divide has caused friction in families and ended friendships. Some employees avoid discussing politics with friends and family.  They save their views for work. Really, what could go wrong?

This webinar is an interactive dialogue about some of the more salient legal, HR and cultural issues employers need to consider relative to the 2024 presidential election.

Among the issues we will discuss:

  • Are there circumstances where an employer can ban political talk, such as with customers?
  • Can an employer restrict employees from wearing political buttons or posting other political paraphernalia while at work?
  • What requirements and/or restrictions can be applied to personal social media?
  • What rules apply to employees’ soliciting for political causes?
  • What are the implications of management’s favoring a candidate/party in terms of monitoring/limiting workplace political advocacy?
  • How should an employer respond to workplace disruptions arising out of political discussions?
  • When does political commentary become discriminatory/harassing (EEO) so that an employer must take appropriate corrective action?
  • What are some guardrails for determining whether to disclose one’s political preference or to ask a colleague about theirs?
  • How does an employer manage time off for employees to vote or engage in other political activities?
  • How do we ensure some civility in our workplace in the absence of such outside our workplaces?
    And, more!
