Thank you for your overwhelming interest in our upcoming session! We are excited to announce that we have reached full capacity. Due to high demand, we will be offering an additional session soon. Please stay tuned for more information on new dates. We look forward to seeing you at our next event!

Join us for a full day of interactive, in-person learning designed to equip HR professionals, legal practitioners, and business leaders with the tools and knowledge to tackle some of the most complex workplace challenges. This dynamic workshop features two comprehensive sessions covering critical topics in compliance and workplace investigations.

Morning Session (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM)

The Leaves of Absence and Accommodations Menu – Key Strategies for Navigating FMLA, ADA, and State/Local Laws
Presenter: Linda Hollinshead

This course will provide a comprehensive overview of the complexities involved in managing employee leaves of absence and related accommodations, with a focus on federal laws, including the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, as well as state and local law.

Linda will guide participants through the key challenges employers face when balancing these sometimes competing legal obligations, especially when it comes to providing intermittent and reduced leave, navigating the ADA interactive process, and coordinating paid time off benefits with workers’ compensation and short-term disability benefits. The session will also delve into complex accommodation scenarios, such as remote work and transfers to alternative positions, offering strategies to support compliance and mitigate risk. Attendees will leave with practical tools and strategies to help them manage and navigate these often complex leave and accommodation requirements while minimizing legal exposure.

Afternoon Session (1:00 PM – 4:00 PM)

Workplace Investigations: The Interviews
Presenter: Jonathan Segal

In this highly interactive workshop, Jonathan will focus on one of the most challenging tasks for HR professionals: conducting workplace investigations, particularly the interview process. This session will explore how investigations can influence corporate culture, reduce legal risks, and impact the outcomes of potential litigation.

While covering the entire investigation process, the emphasis will be on the interview techniques used to gather factual information from complainants, witnesses, and the accused. Topics will include who to interview and when, how to craft effective opening and closing statements, the types of questions to ask (and avoid), and how to handle sensitive issues like confidentiality concerns or accusations of misconduct. The session will incorporate role plays and mock interviews, allowing attendees to practice real-world scenarios in a supportive environment, gain valuable feedback, and develop confidence in conducting interviews as part of a comprehensive workplace investigation.
