California leave laws can tie up even the most experienced employers in knots. When an employee goes out on medical leave in California, employers have to navigate a complex maze of leave laws: Paid Sick Leave, the Family Medical Leave Act, the California Family Rights Act, the California Pregnancy Disability Leave Law, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the California Fair Employment and Housing Act, Worker’s Compensation… how do they all fit together and work together? When does one obligation end and another begin? Do they ever overlap and, when they do, do they affect the total amount of leave time an employee has available? When it comes to leave, there are no easy answers.
This webinar will examine and discuss the various leave laws in California that may come into play when an employee needs time off for medical reasons, including how to track and designate intermittent leave. We will also discuss new 2024 leave laws, including changes to California’s Paid Sick Leave and the new Reproductive Loss Leave.
