Course Description

Complimentary DMi Webinar

Perhaps there is no task more difficult for HR professionals than conducting workplace investigations.  How investigations are conducted will help shape corporate culture, impact the likelihood of a legal challenge by the complainant and/or accused, and affect the employer’s potential risks in litigation.

While this webinar will provide an overview of the entire investigatory process, the focus will be on interviewing.  In particular, we will focus on:

  1. Whom to interview and when.
  2. Opening and closing statements for interviews with the complainant, witnesses and the accused including such issues as confidentiality, non-retaliation and non-interference.
  3. Types of questions to ask (and to avoid).
  4. How to respond to issues raised in interviews, such as “please keep my name out of this;” “I don’t want to get involved,” and “I want to file a claim against the complainant.”

How to ask about unwelcome touch or words that offend without making the complainant more uncomfortable by way of the questions.
