Recorded levels of antisemitism are now at their highest since the Holocaust. This troubling resurgence began with “mere” words, but it never stops there. Today, violence against random Jews and Jewish institutions has become disturbingly common. In some circles, sharing antisemitic tropes has once again become acceptable—even in workplace settings. Like other forms of bias, antisemitic views do not stop at the workplace door. Therefore, employers must take proactive steps to address this pervasive and dangerous issue.
This program is a call to action for leaders and will cover the following topics:
Defining antisemitism: Understanding its conspiratorial nature.
The global escalation of antisemitism: Insights into its resurgence on both the hard left and hard right.
Survey data on bias: Examining “admitted” antisemitic attitudes, including those present in workplace environments.
The legal landscape: Understanding the scope of protections for Jewish applicants and employees, which extend beyond religious discrimination.
Discriminatory workplace conduct: Recognizing and addressing overt and covert biases, including so-called “positive” stereotypes.
Harassment at work: Identifying both obvious and subtle forms of antisemitic behavior.
Responding to antisemitic social media posts by employees: Best practices for addressing external expressions of bias.
Clarifying what is not antisemitism: Differentiating between antisemitism and insensitive remarks, and learning how to reframe hurtful comments while assuming positive intent.
DEI training pitfalls: Identifying gaps and traps in diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
Promoting allyship: Practical steps for fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
