Course Description

Each summer, a wave of teenagers joins the U.S. workforce. Chances are, your organization either has, or soon will have, teenagers among your ranks. The U.S. Department of Labor and other government agencies have stepped up enforcement activity of laws governing teenagers in the workplace. Gen Z workers know their rights too! It is more important than ever to be prepared to address the issues that may arise as a result of employing or engaging younger workers, whether your organization has younger workers year-round or only during the summer.

This 60-minute webinar is designed for human resource professionals, managers and in-house counsel. We will cover legal issues targeted to dealing appropriately with teenage workers, such as:

  • Complying with child labor and wage & hour laws restricting work hours and requiring breaks
  • Avoiding and handling workplace harassment claims
  • Addressing requests for accommodations, including with regard to emotional/mental health
  • Mitigating the risk of legal claims by creating policies with the younger workforce in mind
