Prior to the terrorist attack of Israel by Hamas, antisemitism in the United States was at its highest levels since the Holocaust. In response to the attack of Israel by Hamas, there has been an explosion of virulent antisemitism in the United States (and around the world), and this explosion occurred even before Israel responded to being attacked.
The hatred directed at Jews that we see on social media, in the streets and on some college campuses undoubtedly affects how many Jews feel in terms of their safety and acceptance. This includes in the workplace.
And hatred of or bias toward Jews is not parked at the workplace door. We have seen an increase in formal and informal claims by Jews of discrimination, harassment, retaliation and failure to accommodate.

Then there is DEI. Many Jews are asking: Why the silence? Where do we fit in?

This program is a call to action for leaders that will cover:
1. Working definition of antisemitism, including the conspiratorial nature of it
2. Antisemitism outside of work and how that may affect Jewish employees at work
3. Surveys of “admitted” bias against Jews
4. Surveys of the perceptions of Jewish workers
5. Legal landscape: scope of protections for Jewish applicants and employees (not just based on religion)
6. Discriminatory conduct at work
7. Harassing conduct at work: the obvious and the more subtle
8. Reasonable accommodations (the narrower undue hardship defense)
9. Segregation: the application to more observant Jewish employees
10. Antisemitism and Israel
11. The role of DEI
12. Increasing the inclusion of Jewish employees, including Jewish belonging
