Course Description:
Homeland Security is conducting over 3000 I-9 Audits per year, while the Department of Justice investigates thousands of employers for immigration-related discrimination claims. On Jul 21, 2017, USCIS issued its latest version of the I-9 form. The compliance landscape is constantly changing. While Immigration and Customs Enforcement actions against employers are on the rise, the number of foreign workers increases, documentation becomes more complicated and the I-9 forms change again and again. Last year, more than $30 million in fines and penalties were levied against employers that had committed immigration law violations, including I-9 compliance failures. This 1 hour webinar will provide an overview of the recent changes to the I-9 form and M-274 Employers I-9 Handbook, as well as provide best practices for corporate I-9 compliance systems, discuss discrimination concerns inherent in the I-9 process and educate employers on the acceptable documentation for I-9 completion. This webinar is designed for human resource professionals and in-house counsel.

  • Review of new 7/21/17 version of the I-9 form
  • 2017 changes to the M274 Employers Handbook
  • Everything you need to know about the new 180 day rules for work permits
