Employers in the health care industry face unique challenges as they employ individuals to provide a high level of care for patient or resident needs in 365/24/7 facilities. Health care employers often must comply with strict staffing regulations and other standards which dictate employee work hours, all while facing payment deficits which rise to a budgetary crisis. Health care industry HR departments know it can be a challenge to manage caregiver positions to ensure compliance with wage and hour law.

This webinar will review recent guidance from the U.S. Department of Labor (“DOL”) to understand which types of positions may be exempt from payment of overtime wages. For those positions that are overtime eligible, this webinar will focus on best practices to ensure employees are paid accurately for all working time and to help manage employees to limit costly overtime. Topics will also address the impact of the DOL’s proposed rules on the “regular rate of pay” under the FLSA and the minimum salary level required to meet the FLSA’s white collar exemptions.
