Wage and Hour Quicksand for Higher Education Institutions
Program ID 2917745
Tuesday, Oct 1st 2019
01:00 pm - 02:50 pm (EST)
1.0 Credits
Course Description:
Institutions of Higher Education employ individuals in many nontraditional roles as they service student needs in a 24/7 campus and/or on-line operation. College and University HR departments know it can be a challenge to managing these positions, which often involve evening and weekend work, to ensure compliance with wage and hour law.

This webinar will review recent guidance from the U.S. Department of Labor (“DOL”) on the types of positions that do not qualify for overtime. For those positions that are overtime eligible, this webinar will focus on best practices to avoid off-the-clock work. Topics will also address the impact of the DOL’s proposed rules on the “regular rate of pay” under the FLSA and the minimum salary level required to meet the FLSA’s white collar exemptions.
