Mark J. Stanisz
Mark J. Stanisz practices in the area of employment law. He represents clients in a broad array of industries including higher education, health care, manufacturing (warehouse/production line), financial services, and construction.
Mr. Stanisz advises in-house attorneys and HR professionals on risks under federal, state, and local paid and unpaid leave, accommodation, anti-discrimination, wage and hour, reduction in force, and background check laws. He drafts policies, confidentiality and severance agreements, employment applications, and background check documents.
In addition to Mr. Stanisz’s counseling practice, he conducts privileged investigations of discrimination/retaliation complaints and wage and hour audits. He litigates trade secret misappropriation, discrimination/retaliation, ERISA, wage and hour, FMLA, ADA, and breach of contract claims in court, agency, and arbitral proceedings.
Mr. Stanisz also has an active traditional labor practice. He recently represented a company in a multi-day NLRB representation hearing. He also defends management against unfair labor practice charges and assists with the design and implementation of collective bargaining strategies.
In addition to Mr. Stanisz’s practice, he is an adjunct professor in the higher education compliance program at Drexel University’s Thomas R. Kline School of Law and Drexel University’s School of Education. Mr. Stanisz teaches graduate-level financial regulation, aid/accreditation, and student rights courses.
Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Stanisz was a law clerk to the Hon. Stewart Dalzell of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Stanisz is a 2011 graduate of Harvard Law School, where he was managing editor of the Harvard Civil Rights—Civil Liberties Law Review. He earned an A.B. in Chemistry from Harvard College in 2005. Before law school, Mr. Stanisz was a Teach For America corps member in a Philadelphia high school.
